My name is Misty. Some call me Misty Mae, some Darklymist. These are just a few of the monsters I’ve created and carried with me—creatures of survival, strength, and story.

I am a survivor of sexual, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual abuse. I am also a daughter, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

I stand here as both human and artist: broken in places, but still creating. Through The Flame & The Void, I offer my hand—not just as a survivor, but as a fellow traveler.

I want to be your friend in this messy, sacred work of healing.

What is Creative Arts Trauma Therapy?

Creative Arts Trauma Therapy uses expression—music, writing, movement, and visual art—as a way to heal. Trauma doesn’t always respond to words alone. Sometimes, paint, rhythm, poetry, or performance can reach the places our voices cannot.

This work creates safe spaces for survivors to process grief, reclaim power, and reimagine their stories through creativity. It’s not about perfection—it’s about expression.

At TFV, we believe art can turn pain into possibility. Together, we are building a gallery of healing, where every piece is proof that beauty can grow from brokenness.
